Udayan Ghar (home) for Boys, Noida

To ensure children their right to a loving home and family and the experience of the joy of living, Yaakovs Light, a philanthropic organisation in the U.S.A partnered Udayan Care to set up Udayan Ghar for boys in Noida.

A 2 storey house, situated in a residential colony in Sector 35, Noida, it is home to 10 young boys. Children have access to a lush green park just opposite their home, which is a great play area for cricket, football, or just to take a break!

The foster home itself has been very thoughtfully designed and well furnished to take care of a small Udayan family of 10-12 members. A basement, used for indoor activities, is a haven especially on rainy days when the park is full of slush!

The 2 lovely bedrooms and the sunken area, house 3 -4 beds each, and are complete with attached bathrooms, cupboards and individual study tables. In the 3rd, reside the caregiver couple Rita and Virender. A fairly large open area in the middle of the home room acts as a common room, where boys watch TV or just hang out. A computer room and tuition rooms, give ample space for the boys to work quietly especially in times of exams.

The open kitchen often sees the whole family together, especially the growing boys who hover around for something interesting to eat!

The home also has a room for resident volunteers from overseas. A beautifully designed office room also acts as a counselling room for the boys. Here the Mentor Moms, Ms. Anjana Jain and Ms. Amita Mishra, as well as the social worker and mental health expert, work hard at parenting the boys, giving them a balanced outlook to life. For boys -some whom have experienced abuse, neglect or the deep loss of a family this is invaluable.

Partnerships with schools in the vicinity ensure the boys quality education and the opportunity to expand their horizons, creating many of our miracles of hope.
