2nd Adi Dasler Udayan Care Annual Sports Day (January 13, 2008)

Udayan Care, held the 2nd Adi Dasler Udayan Care Annual Sports Day at
Banyan Tree School sports ground in the capital, marking the beginning
of a new year’s dawn in the lives of disadvantaged children.
113 children participated in various activities
which started off with March Past and Oath-taking to several sports and
games by kids – cricket, basket ball, relay race, 100-meter race, balloon
race, frog race and tug of war etc.
Celebrities and eminent personalities signaled the beginning of the programme.
Mr. Andreas Gellner (Managing Director, Adidas India) was the Chief Guest
for the event while Mr. Hartwin Fedderson (Marketing Head, Adidas India)
was the Guest of Honour.
The high point of the day, however,
happened to be the Special Guest of Honour – Murali Karthik. At the special
request of the children, the cricketer was in for a surprise cricket match
between Karthik Eleven led by Murali Karthik, and TV Eleven led by the other
Guest and famous anchor of Crime Reporter – Raghavendra Mudgal. Murali Karthik,
felt “humbled” when playing, interacting and sharing experiences with “children
with immense courage” and was highly appreciative of the initiative.
Murali was quick to offer to come and
contribute to the betterment of these children’s lives in all the ways possible.
When asked what was the best feeling he would carry back from the event, he said,
it was “the joy of making these children feel wanted”. He added, “Everyone in
this world – in professional as well personal lives – wishes to feel wanted
by people around oneself. Udayan Care has just been remarkably doing that,
in addition to providing them quality education and upbringing in a complete
family environment. The children at Udayan Care showed great spirit at various
sports and that is the indicator of how wanted they are made to feel.”
Team Adidas and Udayan Care personnel
& Trustees also engaged in various competitions. Mr. Andreas Gellner stood
second in 100-meter race. Having made the difference and showing the way
for their youngsters, some of Udayan Care alumni and scholars also joined
the resident children for the event. They are the success stories and Udayan
Care’s real brand ambassadors who have shown to the world in action and spirit
by becoming independent and mainstream like any adult their age.
Udayan Care is grateful to Adidas
for providing prizes and footgear for its children, The Banyan Tree School for permitting
us to organize this event on their school grounds and Creambell for sponsoring
ice creams, for two years in succession.
