12th Founder's day- February 12, 2006

Our 12th Founders' Day celebrations turned out to be a great event. Organised at the amphitheatre of Sanskriti School on 12th February 2006 at 6.00 pm, it drew a lot of our supporters, donors, friends and media.
More than 80 children, from all the 5 Udayan Ghars, depicted in 'Jagriti - a ballet' how peaceful coexistence and religious harmony can be attained, despite the diversity of religions and languages in our country. A colourful extravaganza of sound, light and visuals, the play had children dancing, singing and marching and taking their motherland towards a new dawn.

Kiran Modi, Managing Trustee, Udayan Care, read out the Annual Report of Udayan Care and shared its achievements in the past one year and its vision for future."The children of Udayan Care are no longer disadvantaged as they are getting the love, care and protection of their mentor mothers. These children are evolving into confident individuals ready to take on the challenges of life. The mentor mother concept of Udayan Care is unique." These were the words of the Chief Guest on the occasion, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, Hon'ble Cabinet Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilizers. He invited Udayan Care to set up its facility at his constituency and spread its wings in other cities too.

Mr. S. Regunathan, Chief Secretary, Govt. of NCT, Delhi, our Guest of Honour, offered Udayan Care the running of any one of the government run Children's Homes with Delhi Government and also promised non interference by political or bureaucratic regulations and smooth running of the same.

Mr. V.C. Agrawal, Director HR, Indian Oil Corporation, the other Guest of Honour for the evening, also assured us of greater support.

This year, our 'Award for Service to Humanity 2005 - 2006' went to Mrs. Gowri Ishwaran, Principal, Sanskriti School, Dr. S. K. Kacker, Ex Director AIIMS, ENT, Jatin Das, acclaimed painter and Mr. C. P. Jain, a noted educationist. These annual awards were launched last year and are given to four eminent people from different walks of life, who have done service to humanity in general and to Udayan Care in particular.

Christmas, December 24, 2005

With the blessings and love of friends and well wishers, the children at Udayan Care Ghars are blooming into confident and responsible citizens. The fact was well noticed by the Hon'ble Cabinet Minister for Steel, Fertilizers and Chemicals, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan during his visit to our Greater NOIDA home on 24th December 2005 to celebrate Christmas with our children.

On this occasion Mr. Paswan planted a Christmas tree in the garden of Jagshanti Udayan Care at Greater NOIDA. It was evident that he was so overwhelmed by our children's behaviour and attitude towards life, that he invited all the 90 Children to lunch at his residence along with the mentor mothers.

Udayan Care is honoured by his presence and motivated by his own personal commitment towards the disadvantaged children.

On Christmas Day, a very special visitor Mr. Madan Srinivasan from Pepsico Holdings, Gurgaon came all the way to Jagshanti Udayan Care at Greater NOIDA to celebrate Christmas with the children.

The children had a gala time with music and laughter on Christmas Day. Madan Srinivasan, like Santa Claus, brought lots of gifts like school bags, pencil boxes and packets of chips and goodies from Pepsico Holdings for the children.

6 Corporates Run for Udayan Care in the Hutch Delhi Half Marathon

The 16th of October 2005 saw 6 corporates get together to run for the common cause of Regenerating the Rhythm of Life of the Disadvantaged. Over 180 runners from corporates, educational institutes and Udayan Care volunteers ran the 7 km Great Delhi Run, raising awareness and over Rs 10 lakhs for the organisation's various projects.

Whilst the Hutch Delhi Half Marathon has been touted as the richest Asian Half Marathon with more than 20,000 runners, many of these runners chose to run for a cause of their choice, raising funds and awareness. Corporates got together a team of upto 30 people who pledged to raise funds for Udayan Care and match the Rs 1.5 lakhs contributed by their organisation under the Corporate Challenge Package.

Banners, pennants and brightly coloured T shirts made the Udayan Care runners stand out amongst the crowd even as the children of the various Udayan Ghars looked out for a glimpse of an Udayan Care logo on an enthusiastic runner on television.

Through the support of these corporates, Udayan Care has been able to raise enough funds to cover the recurring costs of 20 children of the Udayan Ghar (Home) Programme for one year along with audio visual equipment to aid our various programmes. This will include educational and extra curricular expenses, food, clothing, tuition fees etc. Udayan Care is grateful to Vatika Group, MakeMyTrip.com, American Express, Cosmo Films, IFFCO, and Kidstuff Promos and Events for their valuable support, enthusiasm and belief in our work in the area of child welfare.
