Udayan Ghar I in Sant Nagar, Delhi(Inception- March 1996), parents 15 girls

 

Kiran, Date of Birth: 02.05.1990, Date of joining us: 24.05.1996

Though she has no recollection of her parents, Kiran maintains a sweet disposition and enjoys being with people. She is well adjusted and probably the best-behaved child at the Ghar. She is interested in a huge assortment of activities like dance, music, painting and computers and has studied classical music till IVth year. She is studying in Sanskriti School and has now reached class XII.

 
 

Rehana, Date of Birth: 05.09.1991, Date of joining: 21.02.1997

We embraced Rehana in the year 1997 as she had been orphaned. Owing to her reserved nature, she does not get involved in talking to other girls at home. Though Rehana is quite talented in art and craft, she remains aloof from the activities that take place at home. She is studying in class IX from NIOS. Since she is undergoing vocational training at our Greater Noida home, Rehana is staying there these days.

 
 

Pratibha, Date of Birth: 02.07.1991, Date of joining us: 24.07.1997

Orphaned at a very young age, Pratibha recalls her family being quite underprivileged. Now a student of class XI in Sanskriti School, she takes keen interest in not only her studies but also in music, dance, painting and computers. She has studied classical music till IVth year. Though she loves being in the limelight yet at times, she is coy and shy!

 
 

Sunita, Date of Birth: 10.01.1990, Date of joining us: 07.01.1999

Besides embracing the orphans as our own, we also make efforts to reunite families. One such effort resulted in reuniting Sunita (a lost child, who came to us) with her family. Despite being repatriated Sunita chose to stay on with us and continue with her studies. She shall be appearing for class XII exams from Open School this year. She completed a diploma course in stitching and embroidery from Samuel Foundation.

 
   

Sulochana, Date of Birth: 05.02.1992, Date of joining us: 01.06.1999

With no one to look after them, the two sisters, Sulochana and Rekha took care of each other before we embraced them. Now Sulochana is studying in Balwant Rai Mehta School in class VIII. Sports have been her all-time favourite activity, and if well managed she can be a real achiever.

 
 

Rekha, Date of Birth: 02.02.1990, Date of joining us: 01.06.1999

Orphaned, she and her sister, Sulochana, were brought into the sanctuary of Udayan Ghar. Rekha’s unrelenting efforts to excel resulted in her unobstructed promotion to class XI in Sanskriti School. Her special talent gets reflected in her beautiful poems and drawings. She loves working on the computer and pleases all by her dance skills. Last but not the least, Rekha can be a perfect host at home.

 
 

Shuchita, Date of Birth: 23.01.1994 Date of joining us: 25.08.1999

Orphaned and having not many pleasant memories of her past, Shuchita has developed very well from a child who shunned studies to a girl keenly interested in academics. She is now a student of class VII in Tagore International School and has also completed her IVth year of Hindustani classical music. Besides music, Shuchita loves to draw and paint and also shows keen interest in computers.

 
 

Poonam,  Date of Birth: 02.10.1991, Date of Joining us: 13.12.2001

A lost child, possessing unpleasant memories of the past, it is natural for Poonam to appear perturbed. However, her cheerful and laughing nature has helped through her brooding moments. A student of class VIII in Balwant Rai Mehta School, she has fared well academically. She also got a medal for participating in an inter-school cricket match representing her school. Her tremendously affectionate nature and lingering warm smile, makes her a much endearing girl.

 
 

 Monika, Date of Birth: 18.10.1987, Date of joining us: 18.05.2002

Having lost her parents, the need of survival for herself and her siblings, made Monika stop studying before she came to us. With great persuasion and counselling, she invigorated her lost spirit and has learnt fast. She has now passed class X exams from Open School and has also completed one-year diploma course in stitching and embroidery classes at Samuel Foundation. Moreover, she is good at singing and dancing shows much compassion and affection towards younger children at the home.

 
 

Lilima (Lily), Date of Birth: 15.08.1990, Date of joining us: 19.11.2003

Orphaned and having to face many difficulties in coming to terms with the complexities of life, Lily has now adjusted well with us. She is to appear for class X exams from NIOS this year. With a bent of mind for dance, music and computers, Lily can excel in these fields if she gives adequate attention to each.

 
 

Jyoti, Date of birth: 26.05.95, Date of joining us: 9.08.2005

An orphaned and abandoned child, Jyoti was brought to us through CWC. Totally illiterate at the time of joining, Jyoti has made fast strides and got admitted in Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in class V, Efforts are being made to increase her attention span and instill a sense of responsibility in her.

 
 

Mamta (Lily),Date of Birth: 26.05.1997, Date of Joining us: 27.07.2006

Mamta was brought to us through CWC and was enrolled in Sarvodaya School in Class III. Her initial problems of adjustment smoothened out with time and she has now emerged into a very naughty girl. A sense of responsibility is slowly appearing in her. She is getting counseled by a psychiatrist as tremendous anger towards her previous life has surfaced in her.

 

Amulya,Date of Birth: 26.05.2000, Date of Joining us: 27.07.2006

Coming from a non-Hindi speaking environment, Amulya faced certain adjustment problems when brought to us through CWC. She is a trainable MR, though her behaviour is normal. After providing constant attention to her studies and arranging a Special Educator for her, we have been successful in getting her admitted to Balwant Rai Mehta School in Nursery class.

 

Nancy,Date of Birth: 06.04.1992, Date of Joining us: 02.08.2006

Nancy was brought to us by a member of Childline, Don Bosco Ashalayam. She is now a student of class VIII in Balwant Rai Mehta School. She is a sweet and chirpy girl who has adjusted well with her environment. At times, she feels nostalgic though. She possesses good concentration and studies hard.

 
 

Maneesha, Date of Birth: 04.02.1997, Date of Joining us: 19.04.2007

Maneesha is the latest addition to the Sant Nagar Home. She has been brought to us through CWC as she is an orphan and her relatives are not willing to take care of her. Maneesha is a very intelligent and smart girl with excellent grasping power. With the help of home tuitions, Maneesha has learnt to read and speak in English within a span of 2 months; since the time she has joined us.Now we are trying to get her admitted to a good English medium school.
