THIS FEELING IS LIKE A DREAM

Sandeep was raised by his mother after his father passed away long back. His mother works in a small factory, giving her all for her children. Despite this, his elder brother has had to drop out from his studies to manage their household expense.

Failure is not an option for Sandeep. After completing 12th std., Sandeep started working as a field executive in a small firm, while at the same time learning Graphic Design from our Youth Leadership Centre in West Vinod Nagar, Delhi. He came all the way from Badarpur, traveling four hours a day to take this course. He truly gave his 110% to become a good graphic designer.

Now Sandeep has completed his one month internship period in Brightwaay. Through his hard work during the internship, his boss took notice and offered him a full job at Brightwaay.

“I felt pleased when I heard I got the opportunity to make my career in field of graphic desinging. This feeling is like a dream..I pinched myself to wake myself from this dream! But this is true, and I am really happy.”

NINE-YEAR-OLD WONDER WHIZ

Talent and relentless determination abounds in our Udayan Ghar children and 9-year-old Shivani is no exception. This May, Shivani pulled off the absolutely incredible: she scored A+ in ALL SUBJECTS. Just completed 2nd standard and already a brilliant student!

It is hard to believe that it was just two years back that she came to us, freshly facing the reality of a birth family who could not care for her. So we took her into our family and she has thrived. Even though she is so young, she is focused and self-driven, brushing aside her hardships with a determination and resilience that is truly inspiring. Moreover, she is an absolute bubble of joy in the home and delight to all around her.

Watch out world. This is not a girl you can keep down!

DREAMS DON’T WORK UNLESS WE DO

“I felt like flying in heaven!”

These were Gulista’s words when she reflected on the moment she learned that she had cleared Udayan Care’s exam and got the opportunity to be an Udayan Shalini Fellow—the moment she knew she was going to college!

Gulista is the eldest among her four siblings. Her father worked as a laborer and could hardly manage the expenses of the family with his meager earnings. In such circumstances managing budgets for the education of his children is next to impossible. Despite all the adverse situations at home which many times forced her to despair and bring her to fear the end of her studies, she never gave up. She believes in holding on to her dreams.

Although she hails from a background where girls had not been traditionally encouraged to go to school, her mother strongly supported her education. Through this maternal support, coupled with the financial aid and mentoring provided by Udayan Care, Gulista has been able to truly fly.

Currently, she has passed her Intermediate exams with first division marks and now doing B.Com from SGRR PG College. Calling herself a warrior fighting for her dreams, she credits Udayan Care for this chance to succeed. In the future, she wants to become a Bank Manager and wants a good education for her siblings also.
