34th FICE International Congress on Residential and out of home care, Israel

Dr Kiran Modi presented the findings from “Beyond 18, Leaving Child Care Institutions – A Study of Aftercare Practices in Five States of India” at the 34th FICE International Congress on Residential and Out-of-home Care, in Tel Aviv, Israel. The conference brought together professionals from different countries deliberating on future opportunities for children and young people in multicultural societies.

India CSR Summit, New Delhi, 23rd, 24th September 2019

The month of September saw Udayan Care participating in India CSR Summit held on 23rd and 24th September 2019 at New Delhi. The summit engaged more than 2000 companies on issues being addressed through Corporate Social Responsibility and Civil Society Organization partnerships, such as education and skill development of the most underserved. Udayan Care’s presence at the summit exchanged suggestions, ideas, and proposals for enriching and reinforcing their interventions in girl’s higher education and youth skill development.

Round Table Conferences, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, 6th to 21st September

 

Sept 2019: In its continuing efforts to build the discourse around standards of alternative care, Udayan Care conducted 1 national level and 2 state-level round table conferences focusing on “Understanding Opportunities and Challenges in Promoting Family-based Care for Children” between 6 September to 21st September 2019 at the locations of Bhubaneswar, Chennai, and Delhi.  The event was supported by CRS, Catholic Relief Services. The round table emphasized the need for going beyond institutional care for children without parental care.

Mr. Dominik Martin Meier and Mr. Thomas Michael Eberl deserve to be specially thanked for volunteering for 1 month with the children of the Mayur Vihar home. They provided a glimpse of German culture and festivals to the children along with training in football and badminton. The children not only enjoyed their company but also got cross-cultural exposure from their visit.
