Greetings from Udayan Care and organising committee of the Conference!
This is to acknowledge your wonderful presence and, participation and contribution at the 2nd Biennial International Conference on ‘Improving Standards of Care for Alternative Child and Youth Care: Systems, Policies and Practices’ on 18th and 19th March 2016 at Amity University, Noida. Please accept our grateful thanks for your participation as well as discussions that contributed to enhance the quality of the conference. Some of you have also shared the dais as panellist or speaker thus enriching the discussions with your presentation or talk etc. A few of you done poster presentation.
It is fair to conclude that the conference was a great success! So many people have contributed in so many ways to turn the discussions on caregivers and young adults into a meaningful dialogue with very interesting presentations and posters and a very good atmosphere for discussion and networking.
It is hoped that the Conference met with your expectations and has helped develop new networks and thought processes, which may get included in your future work, especially related to caregiving and aftercare, policies, procedures, best practices, related to these in childcare institutions. We also hope the South Asia perspective helped in widening our understanding of the subject. We sincerely expect that a forum for such a dialogue, which was created in 2014, and now has been strengthened and enriched by everyone’s involvement, participation, exchanges, and sharing of model practices.
The Conference also served as a venue for the release of the 5th issue of the journal ICEB (institutionalised Children: Explorations and Beyond), a bi-annual international academic journal and we hope you have gone through the content. We would like to invite you to use this platform for sharing your expertise, knowledge and experience in the field, related to children, who are out of family net work. Ways to do this are multi-fold; you may like to patronize the journal by promoting and publicising such a non-profit initiative in your networks; help us with subscriptions, write for the journal, suggest others, whom we can approach, etc. With support of people like yourself, we hope the journal to reach new heights in promoting alternative care best practices and standards of care for children, in institutions and beyond, in South Asian countries.
We will be in touch and share the report with its recommendations that emerged in the conference and keep you updated with the developments and request you to share with us your learning, resources and knowledge. Presentations during the conference have already been uploaded on the website: www.udayancare.org/uccon2016/index.html
We request each one to stay connected and continue the process of dialogue and contributions to this cause of making alternative care in South Asia the best in the world. Together, we can influence the policies and practises in South Asia on alternative care and after care in order to give to our children the best services, care and protection that will make their childhood secure, healthy and happy.
Once again, I take this opportunity to thank all the supporters, collaborators and partners for providing the necessary support to make it happen.
Wish to see you again in 2018 at the 3rd Biennial Conference. Thank you once again for your time, and for the energy you brought to the Conference.
