It was the dream of young Udayan Modi to bring quality and light, through affirmative action, into the dark world of disadvantaged children. His maker recalled Udayan early; even as he had started his tryst with affirmative action; while still an economics student in the USA. His vision and ambition lives on through the Trust created in his remembrance by his family and friends.

Udayan is a Sanskrit word signifying 'Eternal Sunrise'.

Udayan Care is a Trust under the Indian Trust Act registered with Sub Registrar III, in February 1994, working for the last 13 years, for the quality care of disadvantaged children and women, expanding its horizons to reach out to underserved sections of society that need intervention.

Our Vision:

To Regenerate the Rhythm of Life of the Disadvantaged

Our Mission:

For every child a home and education, for every adult the dignity of self-reliance and desire to give back to society

WHAT WE DO:

We build families for children in need: We create L.I.F.E (Living In Family Environment) HOMES for children, who are abandoned or orphaned and do not have natural Families. Through our homes we promote family ‘bonding’, physical and mental health and social integration of these children, who were otherwise abused, physically as well as mentally. Udayan Care enables them to experience the ‘Joy of Living’.

We create opportunities for deserving girls: We support the holistic development of deserving girl students from weaker sections of the society through our 'Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme' by providing them monetary help as well as mentoring.

We generate employment opportunities: We support the underserved communities by running vocational training and personality development programmes to empower them so they can become deserving and independent individuals with the ability to create a change in their own environment.

We create volunteering opportunities: We provide a structured system for volunteers to contribute to the development of Udayan Care as well as the community. These individuals then, in turn, gain satisfaction in giving back to the society in a result – oriented and concentrated manner.

OUR GOALS:

To contribute towards Sustainable Human Development through initiating and executing development activities that result in substantial improvement in the Quality of Life (QOL) of the disadvantaged.

To create Rehabilitation Family Homes for the holistic development of orphaned and abandoned children, and to motivate adults with a similar vision as ours to take on voluntarily, the roles of ‘mentor fathers’ and ‘mentor mothers’ in these homes. To establish more Udayan Ghars(Homes) based on our model of Group Fostering, Mentoring, Community Ownership and Quality Care.

To empower meritorious girls from weaker sections of the society by providing them financial assistance and supporting them to pursue their educational goals, thereby turning them into dignified, confident and positive contributors to society through our Udayan Shalini Fellowship Programme.

To conduct more vocational courses under CREATE (Centre for Rehabilitation, Education and Thought Enrichment) to enable our children as well as the nearby community to be self-reliant and to face the challenges of the world. To generate employment opportunities for the disadvantaged sections of the society by providing them vocational training, life skills, computer and IT skills, thereby improving their learning levels, widening their job prospects.

We aim to reach out to more non +ve children of HIV afflicted parents to ensure a positive future by providing them financial support so they get proper care at home, including basic education and nutritious food. Further rehabilitation of these children is also looked into, if the situation demands.

To enable people from different backgrounds to volunteer and share their experiences with the underprivileged people and work towards improving their conditions and widening their horizons, thereby in turn, getting benefitted themselves.

To work consistently with the state machinery and decision makers towards reformation of policies that favour the underprivileged, keeping their best interests in mind.

OUR VALUE:

Empathy, Education, Empowerment: This progression is central to our belief of serving the underserved. Empathy for those denied.with a right based approuch. They must get the education so that they get economically empowered and are thus enabled to live a life of dignity and self reliance.

Courage, Commitment, and Trust: These are the core beliefs of Udayan Care. These values guide our actions and decisions as we work towards fulfilling our mission. We are dedicated to helping generations of children have a better life by nurturing lasting relationships with the communities in which we are rooted, with support from our co-workers and donors.
