Polishing one’s inner mirror  to excel in life

An induction ceremony is an important platform for identifying and building the hopes and dreams of deserving underprivileged girls, to enable them to  pursue higher studies. The Udayan Shalini families in eleven cities  just got bigger as they welcomed their new entrants into this programme. Eleven chapters of  the USF Programme gracefully  conducted their induction ceremonies , welcoming  the new batch of 910  Shalinis across the eleven cities, who took a pledge to walk the path of a dignified woman and achieve excellence in her education and career. All this was witnessed by an august audience comprising the convenors and core Committee members of the programme, the chief  guests and guests of honour, and the proud parents of the young Shalinis.

Artroom Programme by ArtReach India

ArtReach India continues to organize art workshops where children of our Udayan Ghars are being provided with a platform to learn, explore and enhance their artistic talent. If children are exploring, thinking, experimenting and trying new ideas in their art notebook, then creativity and inventiveness has a chance to blossom. Two workshops on ……happened in this period, taking the childrens’ interest and imagination to soar to creative  heights.

Auro Camp, Nainital_18th October to 22nd October’17

Outings, and being under  the open skies in the midst of nature, is every child’s dream. This Diwali, Auro Camp at Van Niwas, Nainital, in association with Sri Aurobindo Asharam, gifted a smile  to some of the children of our Udayan Ghar (hyperlink) with a trip to Nainital.  The objective of the camp was mainly to provide fun, thrills  and bonding,  stamina and self confidence, while channelizing the children’s energy towards value added activities like trekking, rock climbing, rappelling, and  meditation,  which were the highlights of the trip  and added to their all round personality development.

A team of carers who had accompanied the children, apart from their routine chores, also got an opportunity to revive their relationship with children and rejuvenate themselves.

Corporates ring in  Diwali celebrations

Some  of our Udayan Ghar children were invited to share the lights and joy of  Diwali by MMT and Benetton. While some of our homes had individual families visit them,  the other  homes had Corporates  visit them. Mercer had the good fortune of visiting one of our Girls Homes , and enjoy the celebrations with rangoli  and an art competition and shared in the  joys and festivities of Diwali celebrations.

Microsoft, in association with Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), organized their “IDC Giving Campaign”  (3rd Oct to 3rd Nov), partnering with NGOs in the Delhi-NCR region.  Udayan Ghar participated  in the activity “Wall of Wishes”, where children from Homes 2, 6, 7, and 11 had  their wish list fulfilled by the Microsoft (Noida) employees before Diwali.
