VOL.10, NO.1, JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2016

New beginnings come in many forms; for the girls of the NOIDA Ghar, it came in the form a bright, roomy home. After years of rented accommodation, the girls moved into their own home, thanks to the generosity of the ASOS Foundation, UK. The housewarming ceremony was conducted amidst lots of fun and laughter. Children from the NOIDA Boys and Girls home welcomed Team ASOS true desi style, with an entertaining song and dance programme, and a sprinkling of the Udayan touch with a special hand-made ‘Thank You’ card. The ASOS Team has also decided to fully support Udayan Ghar for girls at Kurukshetra.

“I am very happy to go to my new home… my room my whole house looks like a palace. I am so, so, so happy and thankful. Thank you for giving this home to us!” Ishika   “I love my new home. I’ll keep it happy and colourful and enjoy a lot in it.”
Rani
“…I’ll decorate my room with paintings and photo frames. I have so many ideas for making my new home look even more beautiful. It will be so much fun when we’ll shift there!” Yashi   “I am very excited for the new home. I feel that when we go to our new home, new happiness, discipline, love and everything we want will come our way. Our life is going to start with happiness. Thanks to everybody who brought this happiness and excitement into our lives by working hard for our betterment.”

WHO DOESN’T ENJOY A LITTLE LOVE AND ATTENTION FROM TIME TO TIME?

At Udayan Care, our children, women and youth receive much-needed TLC (tender loving care) from generous volunteers who are eager to mould them into better individuals. Each month, we have individuals and corporates working with us to enhance their knowledge, emotional quotient and personality through various workshops and initiatives.

  • This year too, ASOS volunteers took time out of their busy schedules to help out children at the Greater NOIDA Home with their studies and engaged them in extracurricular activities like painting and dancing. It was an enriching experience for our children. They also visited our children’s home in Kurukshetra.
  • Many thanks to HP and Hero Moto Corp for getting associated with our Gurgaon Home and conducting various activities that were enjoyed by the children as well as the staff at the home.
  • We also kickstarted a volunteering relationship with the Tata Sustainability Group. These ‘Proengagers’ are employees working with the different verticals of the Tata Group who engage with us for six months on different projects, using their skills and experience to advise us.
  • Ujala Arora, Gabriela Lanolf, Anna Hartman, Sandra Quell, Vivianne Rau are our rockstar volunteers who came back to India to volunteer with Udayan Care again. Needless to say, the children were overjoyed to have them around.
  • - Mohini Mitra’s volunteering efforts have made a lasting impact on the children at the Greater NOIDA Home. Thank you, Mohini!
  • An intern from SOIL conducted a workshop on Office Yoga. Perfect for desk-bound jobs, the session taught staff members and volunteers to ‘stay fit where they sit’.
  • - Alberto Hermosa is our newest volunteer. He has dedicated a year of his life to helping us with our website and e-commerce systems. Welcome aboard, Alberto!
  • - Baroda-Maharaja Sayajiroa University joins our league of prestigious institutions who volunteer with us every year. The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Indian Management Institute and AIESEC students volunteer with us and support us immensely on new and ongoing projects to take them to the next level.
  • - Udayan Care’s participation in the Social Internship Fair at Kirori Mal College, Delhi, bore fruit – we registered over 80 volunteers in a very short span of time!
  • - SEEDS volunteers provided tuitions to our Sant Nagar home children. With the support and guidance received from volunteers, the kids worked really hard and showed significant improvement in their respective subjects.
