VOL.10, NO.1, JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2016

Bring out the confetti, beat the drums and join us as we celebrate the many milestones of this year. It’s been a great months, and things only keep getting better for us – whether it’s the new Shalinis inducted into the USF Programme or the young achievers we are proud to call as our family.

Harvesting joy

Udayan Ghars came together to celebrate Lohri, the Punjabi Harvest festival, with a delicious spread of food and special guests from the ASOS foundation for company

The mood for celebrations was infectious as the Udayan Ghar children in Jaipur flew colourful kites on the occasion of Makar Sankranti. And while they celebrated the spirit of freedom, the NOIDA Boys and Girls homes honored those who fought for it by lighting lamps on Shaheed Divas. Republic Day celebrations followed soon after, with flag hoisting and fun community activities like painting, matkaphod, badminton, chocolate race and slow cycling.

Run for rights

The 10th annual Adidas Group-Udayan Care Sports Day 2016 was truly a blast, an outstanding event where our children participated with full zeal and participation. It was much anticipated by everybody at Udayan Care, because these sports days bring out the inherent spirit of competition and teamwork amongst young and old. Every year, the event serves as a reminder of the importance of a child’s Right to Play. Special thanks to Mr. Dave Thomas, Managing Director- Adidas India, former Indian cricketer Mr. Nikhil Chopra and Femina Miss India 2014 Koel Rana. Thanks to all the eminent guests, the event became all the more memorable for the children with a difference.

Glory galore

Year on year, Udayan Care is overjoyed that there is one thing that will happen for sure: our bright young minds will excel at anything they put their mind to. Take a look at our list of winners to see for yourselves.

Girls from the Greater NOIDA home tasted fame as they were featured in The Hindu newspaper, while closer home, the CEO of Arrows Group and the India Head presented the Mehrauli home with a cheque of GBP 12000.

New centre, new opportunities

Udayan Care's IT Programme recently welcomed a new IT Centre in West Vinod Nagar. The American India Foundation (AIF) had a pivotal role to play in its existence and is a one-of-a-kind centre that focuses on imparting highly professional skills in Graphic and Print Design. In fact, the first batch of individuals is all set to graduate and make its mark in the field of design. The centre is Udayan Care’s eighth, with plans to eventually open more centres that offer the same skills at a larger scale.

New center new opportunities

More celebrations

The end of January was a walk-down-the-memory-lane for Shalinis at the 5th Alumni Meet. Congregating from their chosen paths of life to celebrate the strength and opportunity they experienced as Udayan Shalinis, the pledge was all that was needed to get everybody emotional. The meet brought together Shalinis with their mentors, conveners and management. Motivational presentations, team exercises and entertainment programmes were followed by the Shalinis speaking strongly about giving back to the society and to Udayan Care.

Induction ceremony of Shalinis

As more Shalinis took flight to achieve their dreams, 40 new Shalinis were inducted as Shalini Fellows at the Gurgaon centre to flourish and shape their futures. The girls were sponsored by Genpact, who made it possible for us to provide them with a new world of opportunities. Many thanks to our special guests, which includes Ms. Sasha Sanyal (Senior VP), Ms. Yashodhara Lal (VP, CSR) , Mr. Nitin Khurana (AVP, Hiring), Mr. Shahnawaz Hussain (CSR Spoc), Mr. Sanjay Bhatia (Senior Manager, CSR), and Ms. Deepika Bhasin (Manager, CSR) from Genpact, Mr. Avtar Singh, Mr. Rambir Bhati (the local Sarpanch), and even some of our older Shalinis.
