ROBYN BEECHE AWARD

“I believe that everybody possesses creativity... Some have the opportunity of making money from it and some don’t even get exhibited, but it is the creativity which lasts and remains inspirational.” -- Robyn Beeche

On 16th June, the finale of Summer Camp 2016, children from Udayan Ghar Programme competed for the Robyn Beeche Award. The Robyn Beeche Award was started in 2015 in memory of beloved Udayan Care supporter Robyn Beeche by her family and Udayan Care Australia as a celebration of the creativity which was so dear to her. This year, the children created collages illustrating various environmental issues along with proposed solution to these concerns. The winners were judged by the team of international volunteers from Duke University, USA on the basis of three parameters: 1) Creativity, 2) Informativeness of presentation and 3) Depiction of problems and solutions.

A cash prize of Rs. 10,000/- was distributed among the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners by Ms. Isabel Sahni. 1st prize went to the children of Gurgaon who depiced Pollution as a whole, winning Rs. 5000/-. Mehrauli (Home 12) won the 2nd prize who described Animal Conservation through a masterful dispay and won Rs. 3000/-. Finally, Ghaziabad Ghar bagged the 3rd prize by showing Garbage as a very serious environmental concern with a cash award of Rs. 2000/-.

ONE YEAR OLD!

On 5th May 2016, we have celebrated first annual function in United Decoratives-Udayan Care Computer Learning Centre (Sahibabad, UP). Students enjoyed a cake-cutting ceremony and were treated to delicious snacks. In commemoration of this day, our students planted a tree to mark the year gone by.

LEARNING TO LIVELIHOOD

Our first batch of Graphic Design students (West vinod Nagar IT Centre) is finally ready to kick start for their careers--and some already have! Mr. Nitin Kumar from ad company Brightwaay visted our Centre, met our students and ended up hiring 7 of our students on the spot!

FIFTY MORE GIRLS WILL FOLLOW THEIR DREAMS

On 4 th June, 50 new girls were inducted in the Aurangabad Chapter of the Udayan Shalini Fellowship! Shalinis and their parents both attended the programme, giving them a chance to get acquainted with the program and us a chance to meet! Afterwards, the new Shalinis were given a chance to interact with their mentors.

Many thanks to our speakers Mrs. Madhavi Thirani, Mrs. Anuradha Dhoot and Mrs. Sudha Bazaz.
