“We learn to do something by doing it. There is no other way.” – John Holt

“Creativity takes Courage”

Creating Art is a very effective way to stimulate our brain. It helps release stress, thereby helping us focus and perform better in all our daily activities and chores. And thus we make sure that our fellows benefit from the perks of Art.

An Artroom Programme was initiated for the participants of Teaching Fellowship Programme to keep a sustained ongoing artistic engagement of the children.

The workshops are being organized on every second Saturday of the month, beginning from the month of July, at Sanskriti Museum, Anandgram. These workshops are led by different artists, therefore, giving our children all the more exposure and enhancing their artistic talent further.

Information Technology

“When planning for a year; plant corn. When planning for a decade; plant trees. When planning for life; train and educate people.”

In Udayan Care Information Technology Centers we are intensely focusing to train the trainees in every manner, like IT courses, personal etiquettes, professional etiquettes, behavioral skills, financial literacy etc. Workshops and Activities are part of our curriculum which we implement in our centers to develop leadership quality in youth.

Mr Sunil Pahilajani, who has worked with many reputed companies as Managing Director, CEO, Country Director etc., took an influential and wonderful session on Career Motivation. 65 youth interacted with Mr Pahilajani during the session and they raised questions which are related to job roles in the IT sector. After the session Mr Pahilajani conducted a small activity, during the activity youth had to follow a PDCA formula which is Plan Do Check Action, youth had to prepare their 6 month course training plan by following the steps of PDCA. Overall the session was filled with lot of learning and motivation.

Workshop on Career Counseling and Motivation

Udayan Shalini Residential Camp

We love to motivate our Shalinis as career girls, inspired by the wisdom of other people. Empowering each other and sharing knowledge and experiences is what makes us united. Our Kolkata chapter is leaving no stones unturned in grooming the fellows. A Career Counseling session took place on issues such as career exploration, career change, personal career development and other career related issues. The workshop helped the students to understand what their skills are, and what their strengths are; they were guided to look for the opportunities in their chosen field.

The workshops on 'Career Counseling' and 'Motivation' were very interactive. The participants showed keen interest in both the topics and quite a few of them expressed the wish to develop their conversational English power to gain confidence.

“One of the most courageous things you can do is identify yourself, know who you    are, what you believe in and where you want to go.”

Reaching Out To The World

Seeing that technology incessantly keeps bridging the gap between the East and the West; our Shalinis were introduced to the idea of “Global Culture” in the July session of Genpact Exposure Visit, which was focused on Global Inclusive Culture. The session was conducted in our Gurugram chapter by Rini, the Service Delivery Leader for a banking major, one of Genpact’s prestigious clients.

Fellows learnt about language, rituals, appearance and even mannerisms while dealing in a global culture. Fellows also got an opportunity to interact with an Australian client, Petty who also emphasized the importance of building an inclusive attitude towards all cultures in this age of multi-culturalism.

In our USF, Jaipur chapter; the Indo-French Cultural Society under its programme APARAJITA selected 16 more Shalinis. These Shalinis will be given 100 hours of coaching in developing basic computer skills and proficiency in written and spoken English.

Plant a tree, save the Earth!

Tree plantation drive was conducted in our three different chapters in Delhi, Gurugram and Jaipur. These events were organized and supported by Genpact in Gurugram and Shree Kalpataru Sansthan in Delhi and Jaipur.

Fellows were highly enthusiastic and each fellow planted several tree either individually or in groups.

“To keep the body in good health is a duty... otherwise we shall not    be able to keep our mind strong and clear”. – Buddha

Research

Tour Shalinis are fighters in true sense, so to keep them healthy, calm and stress-free, yoga sessions were organized in two of our chapter in Mumbai and Aurangabad.

Breaking the Taboos!

The IIT Enactus Team addressed our Shalinis regarding the taboos or stigmas attached with menstrual health. As a part of Enactus project ‘Titli’, the girls were also familiarized with cotton sanitary pads which can be washed and reused making it more economical and long-lasting as compared to the daily disposable ones.

“Menstrual blood is not impure….it is a source of life (for the fetus) and anything that is source of life, is in its purest form, just like mother earth” ~ Bhoomika

Session was full of fun and knowledge. I got to know about cloth pads and way to use it. The team members were cooperative; I got satisfactory answers of my questions. The best part of the session was gaining knowledge via few interesting games" ~ Karishma
