A beautiful gift for Raksha Bandhan – Reunion of long lost brothers and sisters!

Raksha Bandhan

Piousness of Raksha Bandhan showered blessings on our children in such a way that a few of our girls, residing in Udayan Ghars, were reunited with their long lost brothers. Rakhi found her brother after 7 years; Mamta found and met her brother after 8 long years and Muskan and Sonal met their brother after 11 years. Kudos to our Udayan Ghar team!!

Siblings Muskan (18), Sonal (16) and Tushar (20) had been through a difficult phase in their lives, rendering them into orphanhood, abandonment and severance at a very tender age that resulted in early childhood trauma for them.

After the tragic demise of mother and later father, Muskan and Sonal transferred by the CWC to our Jagshanti Udayan Ghar for girls at Greater Noida in 2006. Muskan and Sonal have been raised and nurtured with the required love and care in the affectionate, contributory and family environment of Udayan Ghars and provided with sufficient opportunities to grow. They have been groomed into strong, confident and self sustaining individuals under the guidance and love of mentor parents and other home staff.

The sisters are blessed with amicable personality and possess good intellectual and artistic abilities. Despite, being from a traumatic background, they have been able to mark their impression in academics and other fields like dancing, art and craft, sports, etc.

One thing that had always disturbed and brought them pain was their inability to meet their lost brother. They missed him a lot and used to cry especially on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This was the time when the Ghar team decided to swing into action with the help of bits and pieces of information they could gather in order to find the lost brother. Fortunately, the team was able to locate their brother Tushar. On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan the sisters were surprised and elated to see their brother sitting in front of them at our Jagshanti Udayan Ghar. It was a heartwarming moment worth capturing!

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence”.

Every year, our Shalinis astound us with their determination and will to educate themselves despite the debilitating family circumstances. Attaining 85% in their XIIth boards, none other than the G D Goenka university opened its haloed portals to 6 of our girls from Udayan Shalini Fellowship from Gurugram Chapter and embraced them in their engineering, law and science courses, completely pro bono. Convener Dr Avtar Singh and the members of the core committee in Gurugram not only initiated this partnership but also continue to provide guidance and support for the girls to transition in the university smoothly - mentoring at its best!!
